Nigeria's Budget And Public Data Service Secures N66M Expansion Fund

BudgIT has received a 2-year fund from Omidyar Network for the purpose of expansion.

Creative startup retelling the Nigerian budget and public data, BudgIT has announced secured a two-year US$400,000 (N66,079,986.52) from Omidyar Network. The fund will be used for expansion purposes.

"Greater transparency of budget, procurement, and spending data will lead to greater government accountability and serve as a deterrent to corruption," said Ory Okolloh, director of investments, Omidyar Network, in a statement.

"BudgIT plays a vital role in enabling access and use of such critical information and fostering greater participatory governance.  Omidyar Network is proud to support BudgIT and its mission."

"The support from Omidyar Network is a major leap in our drive to deepen impact in regards to public finance transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement," said Oluseun Onigbinde, lead partner of BudgIT.
