Streaming company reportedly sets up its first West African servers in Lagos

Spectranet will have the responsibility of hosting the "entire Netflix content library" on its servers.

Netflix's old and new logo

Most people were excited at the prospects until reality began to set in. The bad Internet and really expensive data plans were going to be deciding factors and the general sentiment wasn't going Netflix's way.

Data prices have since gone down some, but the Internet is still shady - and it doesn't look like that is going to change anytime soon.

That may not be an issue in the near future  because Techpoint just posted a report that Netflix has set up its first West African servers in Lagos, Nigeria.

Per the report, Spectranet will have the responsibility of hosting the "entire Netflix content library" on its servers, something that should make Netflix usage much more accessible to way more people.

Does this mean Netflix will finally become a mainstay in very many Nigerian homes? Probably not. But they seem to have the right ideas on how to make the service much more accessible in this part of the world.
