Facebook-owned app is reportedly testing a livestream feature
From the screenshots, it does look like the live feature on Instagram will be very similar to the one currently available on Facebook.
Here is more proof: The social media giant is reportedly testing a new live video service on Instagram. Sorry, Snapchat and Twitter/Periscope.
A Russian news site called T Journal published screenshots showing a live functionality in Instagram Stories with a bright red banner that reads, 'LIVE'.
The site also shares details of the user interface of this potential new feature and in it, a user only needs to push a button labelled 'Go Insta' to start sharing live content.
From the screenshots, it does look like the live feature on Instagram will be very similar to the one currently available on Facebook. There is even a schedule option - just like it is on Facebook.
Facebook Live only debuted in April and since then Facebook has launched Insta Stories on Snapchat, Marketplace on Facebook, and a sticker feature on WhatsApp - most of which are features Snapchat is known for.
It is still unclear at the time of writing this article what the Live feature on Instagram will look like or if it will even become a full-fledged feature on the Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform.
The Daily Mail reports that an Instagram declined to comment on the matter but it is very possible that we will start seeing more and more videos on our Instragam feeds very soon.
