Nakamura founded Namco in 1955. It merged with Bandai Toys in 2005 to become Bandai Namco and is known for the hit game series "Tekken".

The yellow, all-things consuming Pac-Man that shot Nakamura and his company to international fame was created in 1980 by Toru Iwatani, one of Nakamura's protege's.

Pac-Man was so successful that Namco had to build video game arcade-style machines just to meet demands for the game all over the world before the arrival of home consoles. It is currently considered the most successful game of all time by the Guiness Book of World Records.
