A 15-year-old Senior Secondary School student has committed suicide at Uratta community in Imo State.

Paschal Egbosimba, a student of Passion Model Secondary School, Egbu, lived with his mother and siblings around Toronto Junction area of the town, Vanguard reports.

A source quoted in several reports said the deceased hung himself to death after his mother went for a church vigil.

“He used an electric extension cable to hang himself from a ceiling fan, when his mother was away for a night vigil,” the unnamed source said.

Egbosimba's mother wept profusely after the discovery.

According to her, his death was shocking because she did not scold him.

“The incident was very shocking. It has remained a mystery till now, especially as the young boy was neither troublesome nor noisy," a sympathiser quoted in the report said.

Police sources confirmed the incident.
