Governor kicks off free school feeding programme
The Governor revealed that his government will provide free meal for 1.5m pupils across all the primary schools in the state.
el-Rufai, who tasted the food himself at the Aliyu Makama Road Primary School, Barnawa, said the aim of this project was to ensure that primary school students in the state will have access to education regardless of their parents' income.
The governor thanked Vice-President’s office for providing technical support and the commitment to reimburse the Kaduna State Government up to 60 per cent of the cost of the school feeding programme.
He also added that the free food programme has created jobs for up to 17,000 people as catering vendors, each of whom will need to employ workers to help them deliver food to the pupils.
