Jighere took to his Facebook to reveal that he and his Nigerian teammates were denied visas to France for MSI World Scrabble Championships.
Back in November 2015, Jighere, from Delta State won four straight games in the best-of-seven final round against Lewis MacKay from Cambridge to win the championship.

“”The number one Scrabble playing nation on earth was refused visas to enable her contingent participate at a Scrabble event. I guess some folk somewhere need to be better at their job next time,” part of his statement on Facebook reads.

Following his Facebook comment, host of Nigerians took to social media to express their displeasure at the unfair treatment of Jighere.
It seems the negative press got to them as they have called in Jighere and his teammates to collect their visas on Monday, August 29.
“Earlier this evening, we got word that the visas for the entire team will be ready for collection by Monday. We will hope to be able to make it to Lille, France before the commencement of games on Wednesday,” the scrabble world champion said on Facebook.
