Australia lock Dean Mumm insists the Wallabies' poor recent record against New Zealand is "irrelevant" ahead of the Rugby World Cup final.

Michael Cheika's men booked their place in the decider with a 29-15 victory over Argentina in their semi-final at Twickenham on Sunday.

But they face an All Blacks side they have had limited success against in recent times, winning just one of their past 12 meetings.

Mumm, whose Wallabies did claim a win over the Kiwis in the Rugby Championship, said history meant nothing.

"It's a World Cup. History, past forms are irrelevant going into this game," he said.

"We"re going to focus entirely on what we're going to do."

The Wallabies ran in four tries against Argentina, with Adam Ashley-Cooper crossing for a hat-trick.

Mumm, who came off the bench, was delighted to help Australia into their fourth World Cup decider.

"It's a pretty good feeling. I think you've got to pinch yourself a little bit," he said.

"It"s been a solid journey and one we're not entirely finished with. We're very, very excited to be in the final."
