The Queensland Reds have opened up their coaching panel and invited head coach Richard Graham to reapply for his job.

The Reds announced on Wednesday that they are set to adopt the recommendations presented by Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) board member Damien Frawley, who conducted a high performance review following the 2015 Super Rugby season.

Having finished 13th overall and second-last in the Australian Conference for the second straight season, the QRU have been looking into all aspects of the Reds' organisation in the hope of returning the club to the heights of 2011 when they won their first Super Rugby title since 1995.

The key point of Frawley's review was that the Reds' professional structure be made the responsibility of a new position - general manager, high performance.

But it is the decision to open up the positions of head coach, attack coach and defence coach that will undoubtedly be the focus for the fans, with Graham having held his position since 2013 after leaving the Western Force.

The positions of current attack coach Steve Meehan and defence coach Peter Wilkins will also be available for applications.

"A committee will be formed and the QRU will call for any final expressions of interest in the roles of head coach and attack and defence coach with a view to finalising those appointments early next month," a statement on the Reds' website read.

"Current Reds head coach, Richard Graham will be included in that process.

"The QRU board today approved these major recommendations and others presented in the review."

The Reds only won four of 16 matches in 2015, seven less than Australian Conference champions Waratahs.
