Rio 2016 Olympic Games Nigerian athletes to arrive Nigeria August 27

The athletes who competed in a series of events are still in Rio three days after the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games.

Nigerian athletes that competed at Rio 2016 Olympic Games will arrive back into the country on Saturday, August 27.

The athletes who competed in a series of events but ended the Games without a medal are still in Rio three days after the closing ceremony of the Olympics.

Pulse Sports learnt that the Sports Ministry have instructed the players to lodge in hotels after the Olympic village where they stayed during the Games was closed.

This report comes following the reports that the Nigerian athletes have been abandoned in Rio.

Sources in Rio told Pulse Sports that the athletes were aware of the August 27 date of departing Rio for Nigeria.

Nigeria failed to win any medal in athletes at Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The only medal came through the Dream Team VI who won football bronze by beating Honduras 3-2 on Saturday, August 20.

The Nigeria U-23 players arrived in the country on Monday, August 22 at about 8pm.
