Santiago smashed a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Pirates 10-6.

It meant the Pirates stayed a game behind the St Louis Cardinals in the National League (NL) Central.

Mark Trumbo hit a pair of homers in the Arizona Diamondbacks' upset 5-2 victory over the Cardinals.

The Central title in the American League (AL) also remains undecided.

But the Kansas City Royals still sit a game behind after a 5-4 loss in Chicago, where the White Sox celebrated Paul Konerko's 16-season contribution.

The Oakland Athletics are yet to seal their AL wildcard after being beaten 5-4 by the Texas Rangers.

The Seattle Mariners are a game behind the A's after a 2-1 victory over AL West champions the Los Angeles Angels through 11 innings.

NL East champions the Washington Nationals were comfortable 5-1 winners over the Miami Marlins.

Derek Jeter hurt his hamstring during the New York Yankees' 10-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox, but the retiring star still plans to play his final game on Sunday.

NL West champions the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the Colorado Rockies 6-5 after a wild pitch in the 12th.

A weakened San Francisco Giants, who have clinched a wildcard, had a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres.

The Toronto Blue Jays beat AL East champions the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 and the Tampa Bay Rays edged the Cleveland Indians 2-0.

Elsewhere, the Atlanta Braves overcame the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 and Lucas Duda's two-run walk-off homer saw the New York Mets to a 2-1 win over the Houston Astros.
