After rain delayed her semi-final, Karin Knapp overcame Sara Errani and will face Sam Stosur in the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies final.
Karin Knapp booked her place in the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies final later on Sunday, beating fellow Italian Sara Errani in a gruelling semi-final.
After seeing their last-four contest delayed by rain in Austria on Saturday, the pair made an early start, with Knapp eventually prevailing 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 7-5 over her Fed Cup team-mate.
Knapp will now face second seed Sam Stosur in the showpiece event, but the world number 43 will surely have to serve better if she is to claim a third WTA title.
A staggering 20 breaks of serve were shared in a match lasting two hours and 37 minutes.
Knapp secured victory with only her seventh hold, albeit after letting a 5-2 lead slip in the decider, converting her second match point to record a fourth win in five meetings with Errani.
