The Los Angeles Clippers recorded their second win of the new NBA season on Thursday as they thumped the Dallas Mavericks 104-88 at Staples Center.

Blake Griffin had 26 point and 10 rebounds and Jamal Crawford contributed 15 points for the hosts.

DeAndre Jordan, who verbally agreed to join the Mavericks in the off-season only to go back on his word, returned for his first game against Dallas since the controversy and added six points, 15 rebounds and four blocks.

The Clippers' strong bench showing enabled them to pull away in the second half as Austin Rivers netted 14 points.

Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki had 16 points but the Mavs were without injured starting guards Deron Williams and Wesley Matthews.

Elsewhere, the Memphis Grizzlies produced a fourth-quarter rally to beat the Indiana Pacers 112-103 to go 1-1 in the Western Conference.

Spanish centre Marc Gasol scored eight of his team-high 20 points and forward Jeff Green contributed six of his personal 12 in the final four minutes, as Memphis notched 39 points in the final period.

George Hill led the Pacers with 20 points, while Paul George clocked 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

It marks the first time in six years the Pacers have started a campaign with successive defeats.

In the day's other game, the Atlanta Hawks beat the New York Knicks 112-101 for their first victory of the year.

Jeff Teague hit 23 points and Al Horford clocked up 21 to help the Hawks bounce back from their opening-day defeat.

Atlanta opened up a 16-point lead at the halfway point of the game and despite being outscored in the latter periods, held on at Madison Square Garden.

Carmelo Anthony was the Knicks' most prolific scorer with 25 points, while he also had seven rebounds and three assists.
