Tasman will face Auckland in the ITM Cup Premiership semi-finals after finishing strongly to beat defending champions Taranaki 35-17 at Yarrow Stadium on Thursday.

Kieran Keane's men came into the match on the back of three successive losses and ended the first half trailing 7-3.

However, Tasman responded with four tries in the last half-hour and will be at home in their semi-final if Auckland lose to Counties Manukau on Saturday. Taranaki will head to Canterbury for their last-four tie.

Jackson Ormond's converted sixth-minute score provided the only try of the first half, after Trent Renata had landed an early penalty for Tasman.

A Charlie Ngatai penalty made it 10-3, but Tasman then seized control through tries from Quentin MacDonald, Vernon Fredericks and Liam Squire.

Although Berny Hall reduced Taranaki's arrears, Tasman had the final say - Kieron Fonotia scoring their fourth try before Renata added another penalty on the stroke of full-time.
