The Istanbul Cup is left with just a single seed, Tsvetana Pironkova, at the conclusion of the second round.
Tsvetana Pironkova is the only seed into the Istanbul Cup quarter-finals after Alize Cornet and Camila Giorgi crashed out in the second round.
Five of the eight seeds had been eliminated in the first round, while Thursday's results left eighth seed Pironkova as the tournament favourite.
Cornet initially looked in control of her clash with Kirsten Flipkens, but eventually succumbed to a 2-6 6-1 6-2 defeat.
Flipkens managed to win just one service game as Cornet dominated the first set, but recovered brilliantly to storm to victory in the second.
And there was no looking back after she opened up a 4-0 lead in the the third, comfortably seeing out the victory.
Awaiting Flipkens in the quarter-finals is Francesca Schiavone, who pulled off a 6-4 7-6 (8-6) triumph over Giorgi, dispatching her second break point in a second-set tie-breaker.
Pironkova, meanwhile, got the better of Kurumi Nara in a match that toed and froed on its way to finishing 6-3 1-6 6-1.
After the opening set saw just a single hold of serve, both players then enjoyed a period of dominance apiece as Pironkova ultimately came out on top.
In the day's remaining second-round clash qualifier Kateryna Bondarenko saw off Mona Barthel with a 6-3 4-6 6-2 victory.
