DeAndre Jordan will stay at the Los Angeles Clippers after changing his mind on a proposed move to the Dallas Mavericks.

Jordan agreed to a final-hour deal that will keep him in Los Angeles after meeting with team-mates and coaches.

The free-agent center had reportedly agreed to sign with the Mavericks last week.

Dallas owner Mark Cuban even began hawking about signing Jordan and was fined for it.

But no deal can become official until Thursday, when the NBA's moratorium period is lifted, and thus the possibility remained that anything could happen.

It did.

In the interim, Jordan's Clippers team-mates took advantage of the downtime to reiterate their pitch.

Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and J.J. Redick were among those who converged on Jordan's Houston home on Wednesday in a last-ditch attempt to convince him to stay with L.A.

As the afternoon turned into evening, the situation that unfolded on Twitter was nothing short of extraordinary, with players from around the league and some who were inside the house chiming in.

The situation grew so bizarre that the players reportedly began to stake out Mavericks officials, who were attempting to reach Jordan via phone or visit his house.

But Jordan had already made it clear that he had a change of heart.

By 22:00 local time (02:00 GMT), Cuban began informing Mavericks personnel that Jordan would not be coming to Dallas.

"I thought I had a good pump fake," the Mavs' Chandler Parsons tweeted.

Afterwards, the Clippers tweeted: "Home is where your (heart) is. #WelcomeHomeDJ"
