Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James will be fit for his team's season opener, according to coach David Blatt.

James needed an anti-inflammatory injection in his back last week in a concern for the Cavs, last season's runners-up.

The injury added to the Cavs' worries, with Kyrie Irving (knee) and Iman Shumpert (wrist) sidelined.

But the likes of Kevin Love, J.R. Smith and Matthew Dellavedova have made returns ahead of the Cavs' season opener against the Chicago Bulls on October 27.

Blatt said his side, who beat the Dallas Mavericks 103-97 for their first win of pre-season on Monday, would be under-strength early in the season, but James will be ready.

"We came through a few other injury problems up until this point, but J.R. has passed his hamstring problem," Blatt said.

"Obviously Kevin has come back and you saw him tonight, he was again very active and very good.

"LeBron will be fine after the next several days of practice when we work him back in.

"We will still be missing a few guys, but physically we'll come into the first game in good shape. I believe that.

"It will really give us a lift I think, suddenly getting a good part of the team back.

"Not setting any agendas, but we will not be at full strength at the beginning of the season, but at least I think we've found a way that we want to play, we've got all the guys that are playing on the same page and we're looking forward to the beginning of the season.

"Even if we're not at full strength, we're going to be there ready to fight."
