Nigeria beat Senegal in their last group game of 2017 Women's AfroBasket and will face Cote d'Ivoire in quarter-finals.
With both sides already through to the quarter-finals, D’Tigress made it five wins in five games in Group B of the ongoing 2017 Women’s AfroBasket.
D’Tigress took the first quarter 14-13 and led 34-26 at halftime.
In the game which was a very physical battle, Nigeria continued to dominate and in the third quarter had a seven-point lead, 48-41.
The Senegalese came fighting and cut the lead to just four points in the fourth quarter.
Evelyn Akhator was very impressive with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the game.
The win continues Nigeria’s perfect record at the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket after beating Mozambique, Congo, Egypt and Guinea in their first four Group B games.
The Nigerians who are now favourites to win the title will play Cote d'Ivoire in the quarter-finals.
Cote d'Ivoire finished fourth in Group A with seven points from two wins in five games.
Angola who are also favourite for the title won all their five games in Group A. They play Mozambique in the quarter-finals.
D’Tigress have two Women’s AfroBasket titles in 10 appearances; winning back to back in 2003 and 2005.
