Angelo Mathews lavished praised on Milinda Siriwardana and Rangana Herath after they spun Sri Lanka to a Test series win over West Indies.

Day four of the second Test in Colombo proved to be a washout but, although the Windies started the final day of play with nine wickets still in hand on 20-1 in pursuit of 244, Sri Lanka dismissed the tourists for 171, sealing a 72-run triumph.

The win sees Sri Lanka seal the two-match series 2-0 and came despite the hosts being bowled out for 200 and 206 in disappointing efforts with the bat.

But the bowlers, who skittled the Windies for 163 in the first innings, kept Sri Lanka in control of the contest.

And, after Siriwardana - playing in only his second Test match - took 3-25 and Herath posted figures of 4-56 in the second innings, captain Mathews marvelled at their performances.

Mathews said: "It was hard-fought game, our bowlers were constantly under pressure because the batters didn't deliver. But they [the bowlers] delivered, I never had doubts about my bowlers."

On Siriwardana, who ends the series with seven wickets and 111 runs, he added: "He had an outstanding series with bat and ball, and in the field as well, he's proving a very good all-rounder for us."

Herath, meanwhile, finished as the leading wicket-taker over the two matches with 15 dismissals.

"He's [Herath] got enough experience," Mathews said. "He showed his masterclass once again."
