South Africa Twenty20 captain Faf Du Plessis will look to continue his impressive form in cricket's shortest format in his team's second match in Bangladesh.

Du Plessis has scored 236 runs in Twenty20 internationals (T20Is) this year at an average of 118, with the 30-year-old batsman notching 79 not out in South Africa's 52-run victory over the Bangladeshis on Sunday.

Heading into Tuesday's second of two T20Is, Du Plessis' team-mate Rilee Rossouw hailed the skipper's performance in Dhaka.

"Faf played an immaculate innings," Rossouw said.

"We lost two early wickets but he still took the game to them and played his natural attacking game. He led from the front, he never slowed down, he knuckled down and did the job for the team."

Du Plessis averages 43.83 in T20Is with a high score of 119, which he produced in January against West Indies.

After beating India 2-1 in a one-day international series last month, Bangladesh will undoubtedly be looking for a response against South Africa in the second match in Dhaka.

The home side were bowled out for just 96 as they attempted to chase South Africa's total of 148-4, with the tourists' spinners JP Duminy and Aaron Phangiso the only bowlers complete their four overs.

Spin is also likely to play a key role in the second match.

But the decisive factor for Mashrafe Mortaza's side looks set to be their top-order batting after both openers - Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar - were dismissed for less than 10 runs on Sunday.
