Bavalan Pathmanathan Britain mourn local cricketer who dies after being hit in the chest by ball

The whole of Britain are mourning the death of a local cricketer Bavalan Pathmanathan who died after a ball hit his chest.

Bavalan Pathmanathan was playing for Manipay Parish Sports Club (UK) in division three of the British Tamil League on Sunday at Long Ditton recreation grounds, when the tragic incident happened.

The 24-year-old died despite efforts by ambulance doctors who had given him CPR and  treated him.

A spokesman from South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed to the UK Metro that an air ambulance was called to Long Ditton recreation grounds as the 24-year-old played in the British Tamil League:

"We were called to Windmill Lane, Long Ditton, to reports that a man in his 20s had been injured by a cricket ball striking his chest.

"We sent an ambulance and two cars to the scene along with an ambulance from the London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance also. The man was treated at the scene and then taken to Kingston hospital in a life-threatening condition."

The National Cricket Conference took to their Twitter account to send their condolences tweeting: "So tragic to hear of the death of young cricketer, Bavalan Pathmanathan whilst playing in Surrey last Sunday. Our thoughts are with family."

"Everyone at the club has been deeply saddened to learn of Bavalan's death and would like to extend their sympathies to his family, friends and everyone who knew him from within the community of cricket," Surrey chief executive Richard Gould said.

A statement from the British Tamils Cricket League said: "We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of our fellow cricketer Bavalan Pathmanathan.

His untimely loss has left a devastating effect on our member clubs and on our cricket community as a whole. We would like to express our sincere condolences to the members of his family and friends."
