World number two Jordan Spieth will return Down Under to defend his Australian Open title this year.

Spieth, 21, has enjoyed a stellar year that includes wins at the Masters and U.S. Open before his bid for a calendar Grand Slam ended at The Open.

Having won in Australia last year, Spieth will be back in Sydney from November 26-29 to defend his crown.

Spieth produced an eight-under 63 during his win at the tournament last year.

"I"m absolutely thrilled to return to Sydney," he said.

"I had a fantastic time in Australia. I can"t wait to come back and hopefully defend the Stonehaven Cup."

Spieth was the world number 11 when he won the Australian Open, but he has added another five victories since to close in on Rory McIlroy.

"It has been an amazing six months since I left Australia, he said.

Shooting 63 in the final round and winning at The Australian Golf Club was one of the proudest moments of my career. To see my name on the Stonehaven Cup alongside all the champions of the game gave me great confidence."
