Troost-Ekong joined Belgian club Gent in July 2015 and immediately joined Norwegian club FK Haugesund on loan.
The 23-year-old has now announced that he is returning to his parent club where he has signed a contract extension.
“In November, at the end of the season in Norway, I will return to Gent, where I have extended my contract,” the defender said.
“It’s the next step in my career development.”
The defender was named the captain of the FK Haugesund side at the beginning of the season and they sit in third place in the table.
He will be the third Nigerian in the Gent side when he returns, joining Moses Simon and Rabiu Ibrahim.
