Long before he came a villain to Arsenal fans Robin van Persie was a firm fans’ favourite at the Emirate.

In 2011 after the exit of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and a long term injury to midfield sensation, Jack Wilshere Arsenal was in need of a star man to carry them on his shoulders.

Then came Van Persie, who despite being a fantastic striker has never played a full season with the Gunners due to injury.

Luckily for them the striker’s injury problems were behind him as he fired Arsenal to third place finish in the English Premier League.

That season he scored a hat trick for Arsenal as they thrashed Chelsea 5-3 at Stamford Bridge.
