Super Falcons Players finally receive salaries, bonuses

The players on Monday, December 19 have confirmed that they have received payment and have left the hotel.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have finally being paid their salaries and bonuses after taking to the streets to protest.

Since returning from their successful 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations campaign, the Super Falcons embarked on a sit-in protest at the Agura Hotel in Abuja.

They took the streets on Wednesday, December 14 which prompted President Muhammadu Buhari to order the immediate payment of the players.

The players on Monday, December 19 have confirmed that they have received payment and have left the hotel.

The players have received payment alerts,” the team’s media officer Remi Sulola told Pulse Sports.

Super Falcons play Super Falcons earlier this month won the 2017 AWFCON title (CAF)

 

The players were demanding N12.3M ($25,650) from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) but it has not been confirmed how much they received.

The NFF on Friday, however, received about US$1.2m to pay the ladies.

The money was also used to settle outstanding bonuses for the Super Eagles for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
