Super Eagles Players pose with 2018 FIFA World Cup trophy as tour begins

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, November 14 attended the launch of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour in Krasnodar, Russia.

The Nigerian senior national team are in Krasnodar, Russia for a friendly game against Argentina.

Hours before the friendly game, the players attended the launch of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour which took place at the Krasnodar Stadium which is also the venue of the match.

The players got to touch and pose for photos with the trophy which they will be battling for when the FIFA World Cup kicks off in June 2018.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are the first African side to meet the World Cup trophy.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick praised Russia for their preparation for the World Cup.

I can rightly say that Russia is ready for the World Cup,” Pinnick is heard saying in a video shared on the Super Eagles Twitter account.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour which kicks off on Tuesday will get to Nigeria in March 2018 and Pinnick is delighted about it.

I’m very happy that Nigeria will be one of the destinations that this trophy will be parading,” Pinnick also said.

The trophy is an asset that is priceless, to so many people it means different things, to us in Nigeria our dream is to lift it.

 

“That’s why our players here are very motivated in making sure that this trophy will from Russia, get to Nigeria, back to Russia and if possible back to Nigeria again.

“Some people might say it’s just a dream, but in Nigeria, we dream big and we pray and work hard in achieving those dreams."

Russia 2018 will be Nigeria’s sixth FIFA World Cup appearance.
