The new captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Ahmed Musa turns 23 today, Wednesday, October 14.

The forward who was born in Jos first played for a local football club called GBS Football Academy before he was loaned to JUTH FC his first professional club.

Musa joined Kano Pillars where he made a name for himself, setting a record-which has been broken and surpassed- of the highest goals scored by a player in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

After his exploits in the Nigerian league, Musa was snapped up by Eredivisie side, VVV-Venlo where he also shone.

He was subsequently linked with a move to English Premier League club, Tottenham, but ended up joining Russian Premier League side, CSKA Moscow.

Musa is who has now been made the Super Eagles captain made his debut for the senior national team in 2010 in a qualification match for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations against Madagascar.

In total in he has 54 caps for Nigeria and have scored 11 goals.

In his personal life, Musa has been married for several years to Jamila and together they have two children.

Today is also the birthday of Super Eagles striker, Anthony Ujah who plays for Bundesliga side, Werder Bremen.

The striker was born on this day in the year 1990.
