Lots of Nigerians have blamed Solomon Dalung for the Dream Team’s predicament and hurled insults on him when he congratulated the team on their win.
After arriving Manaus just a few hours to the game, Nigeria’s U-23 still managed to overcome their Japanese counterparts in the first Group B match of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The players arrived late following a series of delays caused by the failure of the fund transfer system of the Ministry of Sports and the refusal of the players to board a plane that was later chattered for them.
"The players were uncomfortable with the size of the plane," media officer of the team, Timi Ebikagboro told BBC Sport.
A 32-seater Delta plane which is used by NBA players was then provided with which the Dream Team players flew to Brazil.

Lots of Nigerians have blamed Dalung for the Dream Team’s predicaments and hurled insults on him when he took to Facebook to congratulate the team on their win.
“I heartily congratulate the National U-23 football team for their outstanding 5-4 victory over Japan in their opening Group B game,” he writes.
“The Dream Team VI not only showed resilience in the face of adversity but demonstrated patriotism, team work and the CAN DO SPIRIT that Nigerians are known for globally.
“I urge them to put aside all that happened in Atlanta and focus on the challenges ahead.”
Dalung initially irked Nigerians when he denied knowledge of the team camping in the United States ahead of Rio 2016.
“Because they are U23 national team and they went to the US and they are having problems, does that become our business?” he asked at a news conference.
Nigerians were quick to remind him of his statement and had harsh words for him.
“You are a Dog , I think you said who send the boys to Atlanta ? Change ur name to Dog,” a Facebook user with the name NoPain NoPain writes in the comment section of Dalung’s post.
“Shameless man. You want to reap where you didn't sow . That has always been the way of Nigerian politicians always coming at the end of a success story to gloat. Obviously, you too have no soul or conscience, “ another user, Chibuihe-Light Obi says.
“Why are u celebrating with them? few days ago u were asking WHO SENT THEM TO Atlanta? next you said ITS NON OF YOUR BUSINESS, and your shameful statement of UNITED STATES of NIGERIA. Success indeed has many fathers but failure is an orphan... Shameless man. You want to reap where you didn't sow . That has always been the way of Nigerian politicians always coming at the end of a success story to gloat. Obviously, you too have no soul or conscience,” another writes.
