Sir Alex Ferguson attended Manchester United annual Charity Golf Day with Louis van Gaal and a host of first team players

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was present at the club's annual Charity Golf Day at Dunham Forest Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, July 7.

Ferguson was joined at the event by present United coach, Louis van Gaal, past and present players of the 20-times English champions.

Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and youngsters James Wilson and Paddy McNair all attended the event same as assistant manager Ryan Giggs and former right-back Gary Neville.

For the event, United supporters are given the opportunity to play against their club stars by paying £1,500 to enter a three-man team - with a player or legend making up the fourth player in the team and proceeds being used to support charities across Greater Manchester.

The event raised over £20,000 for the foundation, and it has raised more than £100,000 in total since 2010.

Wayne Rooney won the event in 2011 and 2012, Michael Carrick won in 2013 while Giggs was the champion last year.

Sir Ferguson retired from his position as coach of Manchester United after 26 years at Old Trafford.

The Scot won 38 trophies, including 13 English Premier League and two UEFA Champions League titles.
