Do you remember coach Philippe Troussier who qualified the Super Eagles for the 1998 World Cup in France but was sacked before the main tournament?

The 'White Witch Doctor' as he is called has been sacked by Chinese Super League side Hangzhou Greentown due to poor results.

The sack was announced through the club's website on Wednesday, July 1.

"After friendly negotiations, the club and Philippe Troussie have ended his working contract," a statement from the club said.

Under Troussier, Hangzhou flirted with relegation for most of the season, winning only four of their last 16 games as they finished 13th on the table.

Troussier was appointed coach of the Chinese club late 2014.

Apart from the Nigeria job, Troussier has also coached Burkina Faso, Olympique Marseille, Japan and several other African and Asian clubs.
