Sunday Oliseh is set to recall Obafemi Martins who has been on form in the MLS
MLS based Nigerian striker, Obafemi Martins could be set for a recall to the national team according to reports.
The Seattle Sounders striker last played for the Super Eagles of Nigeria a 2013 in FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kenya.
The former Inter Milan star has scored 14 MLS goals in 19 appearances for Sounders who sit fifth on the Western Conference log.
Complete Sports reports that the striker’s hot form in the MLS has placed him in prime position for a recall.
Sunday Oliseh according to the report is considering Martins to provide stiffer for the likes of Odion Ighalo and Emmanuel Emenike.
According to sources of the newspaper, the Eagles attack has not impressed the head coach despite scoring five goals in four games.
“Obviously, Martins is an option we are considering in attack and he could make a return to the team but the coach has the final say on that,” the source is quoted to say by Complete Sports.
“Emenike has not showed the handlers he could be relied on in the games he has played.”
“The coach wants his forwards to be aggressive and press high up but that has not been the case.”
