Nigeria Professional Football League 2016/17 season proposed to begin December 21

The League Management Company (LMC) who are the organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) have proposed December 21 as the kick-off date for the new season.

For the new season, the LMC are proposing a December 21 kick off date which will be ratified by the NFF congress at the Annual General Assembly (AGA).

The LMC want an early kick off for the season so the NPFL can be in sync with the schedule with mist leagues in Europe.

Rangers won the NPFL title last season with 63 points, Rivers United FC came second with 60 whole Wikki Tourist finished third with 57 points.

Giwa FC were relegated- after they were expelled for breaching the rules and regulations of the competition- along with Ikorodu United, Warri Wolves and Heartland.

The clubs promoted to the top flight are Gombe United, Katsina United, Remo Stars and ABS FC.
