A penalty by Nasarawa United defender, Seun Sogbeso gave the Lafia team the win in the game in Ibadan.
Coach of Nasarawa United, Kabir Dogo, has played down their 1-0 win over Enyimba in the semi-final of the Federation Cup and warned his players not to over-celebrate.
A 1-0 win over Enyimba got Nasarawa United of Lafia a place in the 2016 Federation Cup.
A penalty by Nasarawa United defender, Seun Sogbeso gave the Lafia team the win in the game played on Saturday, October 15 in Ibadan.
The first half penalty was given after Enyimba’s goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai fouled United forward Abdulrahman Bashir.
Speaking after the win, Dogo insists there is nothing special about the win.
“There was nothing special in the cup semifinals victory against Enyimba, we actually prepared quite well for the game knowing the pedigree of the opposition,” he told SuperSport.
“We know the outcome of the encounter could go either way so we were not surprised we won at the end of the day.
“Enyimba are a good side, so are we too, we have met on different fronts, we beat them in the Super Four contest as well as shared the honours in the just-concluded top-flight, so we have the edge over them.
Nasarawa United will face FC IfeanyiUbah in the final.
