Lionel Messi's famous goal against Bayern Munich last season has won him the UEFA Best Goal award
Barcelona star, Lionel Messi has won the UEFA Best Goal Award with his solo goal against Bayern Munich goal last season.
The goal was scored during the semi-final game between Barcelona and Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp.
The goal went on to become a social media sensation.
With the game still at 0-0, the Barcelona number 10 opened scoring in the 79th minute before adding a now famous second two minutes later.
The goal was so sublime that Boateng who was embarrassingly beaten paid tribute to the quality of Messi.
"You can't keep tabs on such a quality individual," he told the DFB's official website.
"You can only manage to reduce their threat as a team and, as shown by the closing stages, that certainly takes a lot out of you.
"You can't keep Messi out of the game for 90 minutes. We did really well to limit his influence for the first 70, but then you have to continue to defend as a team.
"After falling behind, which shouldn't happen in the first place, you can't then allow the other team to further increase their advantage."
Barcelona goal-keeper Ter Stegen was also awarded the UEFA Save Of The Season with his diving save against Bayern Munich in the second leg semi-final clash.
