Deportivo La Coruna  cancelled the signing of a young Spanish winger, Julio Rey over his negative Twitter comment about the club back in 2012.

The 20-year-old was on the verge of signing for the Spanish club who had even unveiled the player on tier Twitter account.

The transfer was however cancelled after it was discovered that the 20-year-old had tweeted something uncomplimentary about the club.

"F*** DEPOR, F*** RIAZOR," Rey tweeted back in 2012.

Deportivo pulled the plug on the transfer and released a statement explaining that the signing was cancelled due to a tweet from the past.

"Real Club Deportivo, who announced the signing of Julio Rey in the afternoon after the player signed his contract with the club, have decided to cancel the transfer after analysing an unfortunate comment on the player's person social media profile several years ago," the statement read.

"[Deportivo] believes that a player deserves to wear the blue and white shirt if he's an example of sportsmanship, respectful of their rivals, committed and has positive feelings toward Depor, it's colours, it's crest and those values that represent this institution."
