The Ghanaian referee will not play a part in any football-related event again
FIFA said that Lamptey was being banned from "taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for life", after being found guilty of match manipulation, breaching Article 69 paragraph. 1 (unlawfully influencing match results) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The match in question, which took place on November 12, 2016 in Polokwane, South Africa, saw Lamptey awarding what many labelled as a dubious penalty to the hosts, who eventually won the game 2-1 against the Teranga Lions.
In the wake of the incident, Lamptey, upon investigation, was banned for three months by CAF, African football's governing body.
