John Mikel Obi will retain his role as the Super Eagles of Nigeria under new Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr.
Rohr last month was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles on a two-year-contract.
Despite the new Technical Adviser, Mikel who took over as Super Eagles captain from Ahmed Musa in March 2016 will continue his role under the new boss.
Describing Mikel as a natural leader, Rohr hailed the midfielder for his role in the Dream Team VI that won a bronze medal at the recently concluded Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
