A North Korean goalkeeper Jang Paek Ho has been handed a 12-month suspension for conceding froma a goal kick.
In an Asian Under-16 Championship match against Uzbekistan in September Paek Ho ran out of his area and deliberately misjudged a goal kick.
He then made an act of attempting to get the ball which was slow but fell twice, allowing the ball to roll into the net.
According to reports, the goal was let in so North Korea could lose the game so as to get an easier game in the next round.
North Korea faced lower-ranked Oman in the quarterfinals and won to progress to the semi-final.
Their semi-final berth qualifies them for the U-17 World Cup which Paek Ho has been banned from as a result of his suspension.
The U-17 World Cup will be played in India next October.
“'The effect of the match suspensions also means that Yung and Jang are now suspended from the FIFA U-17 World Cup,” the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said.
“Should the U-19 representative team of the North Korea Football Association engage in similar behavior in the AFC U-19 Championship 2018 qualifiers, they will be automatically excluded from the competition.'
