The Algeria Football Association have banned clubs from signing foreign players
The Algeria Football Association have placed a ban on the signing of foreign players by clubs in the country.
According to the association, the ruling was "due to financial difficulties, inability to obtain foreign currency to pay players legally, compensation and solidarity".
The FA also said the decision was taken to combat "the unscrupulous actions of some players' agents" .
Foreign players already at Algerian clubs will be allowed to play until the end of their current contracts.
The association stated in a press release last Saturday that “this issue deals with foreign players, in regards to the tough money situation and lack of enough budgets in order to pay their rents and salaries. The association has decided to stop relations with foreign players.”
“There is no license to deal with foreign players starting from the upcoming winter transfer window. Foreign players already playing in Algeria can continue until their contracts run out,” they added.
“Starting from the 2015-2016 sports season, and following the ongoing laws, a coach has no right but to make two announcements during the one season.”
