Despite the loss, the Golden Eaglets still finished top of Group A while Croatia’s win take them to second
The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria lost their first game in the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup to Croatia.
The Eaglets who have already qualified for the round of 16 thanks to their victories against USA and Chile, took the lead through Victor Osimhen in the 20th minute.
The Croatians however came back with two goals to take all the three points.
Brekalo equalised for Croatia in the 50th minute before Majic neted the winners four minutes later.
Despite the loss, the Golden Eaglets still finished top of Group A while Croatia’s win take them to second.
In the group's other game, host Chile defeated USA 4-1 which takes them to third in the group.
Nigeria and Croatia go through, automatically, to the Round of 16, while third placed Chile will wait to see if they are eligible as one of the four best third finished teams.
