Nigeria has lost one of its ace sports journalist Emiko Bake who died in Tuesday, October 27 after a brief illness.

Aged 65, Bake had made his name as a sports journalist working for media houses like the Punch Newspapers and the defunct Evening Times.

Before his death, he was the Chief Sub-Editor of SportsDay newspaper and National Weekender.

He once worked as a lecturer at the National Institute for Sports and played a prominent role when Nigeria hosted the U-20 World Cup in 1999 in the Lagos Sub-seat under the leadership of Austin Akosa.

The family are yet to announce the funeral plans as at the time of this report.
