Former Chelsea manager, Claudio Ranieri has been appointed manager of English Premier League side, Leicester City.

The 63-year-old was unveiled by the club on Monday, July 13 after signing a three-year contract.

This is the second return of the Italian manager after coaching Chelsea from 2000 to 2004.

He guided the club to second place finish and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

"I'm so glad to be here in a club with such a great tradition as Leicester City," Renieri said.

"I have worked at many great clubs, in many top leagues, but since I left Chelsea I have dreamt of another chance to work in the best league in the world again.

Renieri replaces sacked coach Nigel Pearson after Guus Hiddink and Martin O’Neill are understood to have declined when they were approached.

Ranieri has also managed Valencia, Parma, Juventus, Roma, Monaco and Inter.

"I wish to thank the owner, his son and all the executives of the club for the opportunity they are giving me. Now I've only one way for returning their trust: squeeze all my energies to getting the best results for the team," he said.

Ranieri has flown out to Leicester’s pre-season tour in Austria on Monday, July 13 to start work immediately.

Their first Premier League match of the season is at home to Sunderland on August 8.
