Chapecoense Real Atletico Nacional give up Copa Sudamericana title to Brazilian club

Atletico Nacional are ready to give up the Copa Sudamericana title to Brazilian club, Chapecoense Real that has lost almost their entire team in a plane crash.

76 people including players, coaches and backroom staff of the Brazilian club died when the plane they were travelling with crashed in Medellin late Monday, November 28.

Chapecoense Real team was traveling to face Athletico Nacional in the first leg of the Copa Sudamerica final, the biggest game in the club’s history.

Following the tragedy, Atletico Nacional have made a request to CONMEBOL to hand the Copa Sudamerica title to Chapecoense.

We want Chapecoense to be champions,” Atletico Nacional player Gilberto García said.

Brazil Serie A clubs have also offered to loan players to the club for free and also asked the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to exempt them of relegation for three years.
