Cesc Fabregas believes Chelsea can recover from the bad form to retain the EPL title
Despite their stuttering start to the season, Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas is adamant that they can retain the English Premier League.
Jose Mourinho’s men are 16th in the table after eight games, 10 points behind league leaders, Manchester City.
No team in 16th position at this point of the season has even finished more than fifth, but Fabregas insists that the Blues can even win the title again this season.
“I still believe we can win the league. It's not going to be easy but a 10-point gap at this stage of the season is not impossible,” Fabregas told The Sun.
“Last season, we took 22 points from our first eight games but this time every team has lost at least one.
“Manchester City lost to West Ham and Tottenham when no one expected it, Manchester United and Arsenal have also dropped points.
“No one at Chelsea is happy with our current position but I would prefer to be here now than at the end of the season.
“It's not how we start the campaign, it's where we finish it.”
Chelsea and Fabregas will have the opportunity to kick start a winning spell as they host welcome Aston Villa on Saturday, October 17.
