Hoffenheim missed the chance to end the weekend in third place in the Bundesliga after being held to a 2-2 draw at home by winless bottom club Hamburg on Sunday.

Hamburg took a surprise first-half lead courtesy of Filip Kostic, but the home side equalised through a Sandro Wagner strike in first-half stoppage time.

Swiss international Steven Zuber put Hoffenheim ahead four minutes into the second half but they were denied the victory as Nicolai Mueller made it 2-2 at the end of a counter-attack on 61 minutes.

Hoffenheim remain unbeaten but sit fifth on 21 points, behind Borussia Dortmund in third and Cologne in fourth on goal difference.

Also on 21 points are Hertha Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt, who won 2-1 at struggling Werder Bremen on Sunday.

Florian Grillitsch gave Werder the lead but Alexander Meier came off the bench for the second half to equalise with his fourth goal of the season.

Eintracht then grabbed a last-minute winner thanks to 18-year-old Aymen Barkok, who also came on as a substitute to make his Bundesliga debut and curled in a superb strike with his left foot.

RB Leipzig, who are still unbeaten since winning promotion in the summer, went three points clear at the top of the table with a dramatic 3-2 win at Bayer Leverkusen on Friday before defending champions Bayern Munich lost 1-0 away to Dortmund in "Der Klassiker" on Saturday.

Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted the only goal at Signal Iduna Park as Dortmund inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Carlo Ancelotti's side.
