After the game, the Nigeria international took to his Twitter to express his delight.
“Nice Way To Start Our Europa League Campaign With A Win,” Iwobi wrote on Twitter.
The 21-year-old started the game in midfield alongside Mohamed Elneny. He is registered as a provider for Arsenal’s second goal.
He picked up the ball in the middle and drove forward before picking out Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez, however, had lots to do as he had to chase the overhit pass from Iwobi before driving at the FC Cologne defence and curling an effort to put Arsenal in the lead.
Sanchez’s goal was a turnaround for Arsenal who had gotten behind in the first half to a Jhon Cordoba goal.
A poor clearance from David Ospina fell to Cordoba who lobbed the ball from long distance over the Arsenal goalkeeper into an empty net.
Second half substitute Sead Kolasinac brought Arsenal level before Sanchez and Hector Bellerin completed the win.
