South Africa midfielder, Matthews Manyisa shoot Bafana Bafana into the lead in the 47th minute, only for Serigne Mbodji to equalise for the Lions of Teranga
Bafana Bafana of South Africa resuscitated hopes for a quarter final place when they played out a 1-1 draw with the Teranga Lions of Senegal in the second group C game on Friday night.
Midfielder, Matthews Manyisa shot the South Africans into the lead in the 47th minute.
The lead only lasted for 13 minutes as the Lions of Teranga, who’d won their first game against Ghana on match day 1 equalised at the 60th minute with goal from Serigne Mbodji.
The draw marks the 4 levelled result between the two sides in six meetings, with Senegal holding sway in the other two with wins.
The first time the two sides met in an Africa Nations Cup back in 2008, it ended a draw, just as the clash in Malabo.
With one win and a draw from two games in Group C of the ongoing AFCON 2015, Senegal sits atop on 4 points, followed by Algeria whose first day 3-1 win over South Africa ensured Friday’s loss to Ghana did not drop them down the log.
The Desert Foxes occupy the second position on three points, followed by Ghana on three and South Africa at the bottom on one point.
