Gervinho is the first player to be sent off in the Nations when he slapped Guinean player Naby Keita; he awaits CAF's punishment
The Nations Cup has recorded its first Red Card and what a way to give that out.
AS Roma forward, Gervinho was the culprit when he awkwardly hit out on 19 year-old Guinea player Naby Keita for steeping on his boots.
The action seemed unprovoked but 27 year-old Gervinho’s reaction was way too irrational for him to still remain on the pitch.
The Ivorians who were 1-0 down as at that time would be grateful his second of sadness did not cost them days of thinking through a loss to the Syli stars.
That sending off may not be the end of his punishment as he may yet be penalised by the Confederation of African Football.
