Unarguably, Sojay is one of the best voices of contemporary Rhythm and Blues in Nigerian music, and this EP attests again to that fact.

Sojay is one amazing vocalist, and there’s just no better way to put it. Asides his own music, Sojay is known for covering popular songs, local and foreign.
The singer has found his strength and rightly embraced it as an R&B Soul artist.
Though it could be said that Sojay does not match up this singing quality with popularity, only a few number of Nigerian acts are as amazing on the vocals like Sojay.
Sojay impressed at a talent competition which got him signed to Eldee’s story in 2011 and was an immense contribution to Eldee’s 2012 “Undeniable” album.
Signed to Reminisce’s Label Les Roses Rouge (LRR) in 2014, Sojay managed out one album titled “So Far” in 2016, showing some growth. His contract with LRR rounded off in 2016, and has since gone indie.
2017 has seen him put out an EP he tags “Sojay’s Room Vol. 1 The Playlist”, that is another hallmark of his artistry.
Sojay describes the creative process of the 6-track EP as one that emanated from his reflective thoughts sitting alone in a room.
Track 1 titled ‘Henny’ is a slow sensual tune which talks about his lady teasing him and pushing his buttons, not knowing he is already in the mood for some loving having been influenced by the henny.
‘All for you’ riding on the heels of a stellar production by Edgardo, sees Sojay laying down his feelings for his woman who seems to be growing far apart from him, because he seems distant himself, but Sojay is re-assuring her of his undivided love she can count on.
In ‘Wish you well’ produced by Psykes, Sojay bids bye and farewell to the woman, but wants her to know she is in his good books.
Sojay samples Donell Jones’ ‘Instrumentals’ on ‘Shorty’, as he talks about a potential rendezvous with a special lady. Sojay’s vocals are undeniably beautiful on this track, Donell Jones would be impressed.
‘Space’ produced by Kid Mau sees him reflect deeply on how far he has come in the game, and is not planning on giving and bowing out. It’s kind of like a career defining song about his sojourn in the music industry. Interesting listen.
On ‘Let me’, Sojay is on a quest for true love and is hoping this will be reciprocated by the admired lady.
Sojay’s Room Vol. 1 Playlist is a great body of work that represents fairly well the tremendous talent that is embedded in the singer, and should leave you wanting more. He is indeed one of the best contemporary voices of R&B in the Nigerian music space, as he makes it seem effortless on the breath control among other technicalities of vocal renditions.
Special shout out to each producer and the rest of the production team that brought this all together. Great vision and teamwork made the dream work.
Here’s to feel good music.
