Kay is an emerging Nigerian lyricist who shows originality and depth in his delivery. He makes good use of wordplay and his vocals to tell tales of societal happenings from his own experiences and perspective.

"Appetizers", his debut project comprises 17 tracks and is Kay's first attempt at greatness as he puts it.

The conceptualised project sees him as a chef serving mouth-watering meal appetizers (songs) to his customers (listeners).

The tracks 'Go together' and 'Fun vs safety' dishes on stories cutting across various fragments of relationships, good, bad and downright naughty, as he lays down the cards for you to be responsible for your choices.

In 'Gold bars', Kay brags about his prowess as an emcee and rightly the ''Saviour of Hip-hop".

'Hip-hop court's jester' has a nice wave to it, that sees him take swipes at some of Hip-hop's greats such as Kanye West, Andre 3000, Drake and Kendrick Lamar.  The music just makes you wanna bump your heads.

On 'Who I'm not ', Kay clearly defines who he is as an artist, and a human that won't be forced into any beliefs just because it is popular opinion.

'Activate your activism' hears him speak up and admonish people to act on their urge to take action against social injustices, as he talks gun violence.

He touches on the ever delicate music business demands, emphasizing on creative control, being careful to read up fine prints before signing up to labels that do not place value on originality and creativity if it doesn't translate to 'money-spinning' music.

'Unadulterated arrogance' sees him being confident in his own skin, and expressly calls for any Hip-hop act sure of his skills to step up to him for some lyrical battle.

Kay's delivery is unquestionable, as you get to hear clearly enough what he has to say, a very important but usually overlooked attribute of a quality song delivery.

Production on the album is decent, rightly complementing Kay's talent as an emcee and Hip hop artist, clearly seen as he raps about his personal yet relatable life tales.

Hip-hop never sounded quite so real on this tape "Appetizers", as Kay makes it all funky with each track.

"Appetizers" generates some hunger and thirst for the 'main course' whether that comes as an album or a richer mixtape, time would tell.
